God's Heart for Orphans - Thoughts from India #2

One of the main reasons I was willing to travel to India was the chance to see the orphans we sponsor through Global Partners in Peace and Development  http://www.gpartners.org/ .  Our family sponsors 3 Indian children, and our team visited the home where our two boys live.  It was our last stop, so looking forward to this time helped me push through to the end.

If you're anything like me, you've heard about orphans.  You've seen the pictures on TV, the magazine ads, the internet pictures that, after a while, I'm afraid we all grow a bit calloused to.

We shouldn't be calloused.
God isn't calloused towards orphans.  In fact, He has a special place for them in His heart.

James 1:27 - "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:  to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

These precious children we met and played with have homes because people were willing to obey God's call to care for them.  They are fed because people said "yes" to God's prompting on their hearts to give.  They have clothes because individuals gave a little money...maybe didn't buy something...instead letting God multiply their finances, provide for their needs, and in the process provide for an orphan as well.
When I met our sponsored boys, my heart was filled to overflowing.  I watched them dance and pray and play.  They are beautiful, healthy, and educated.  What better thing could we have done with $60 a month?

Nothing.

These children are the change their country is crying out for, not with outward voices, but with cries of the heart.  They are the hope for India's future, because they are being taught truth and love and Jesus.
They are so thankful - for a simple visit from some Americans; for those who sponsor them; for the home they have in their orphanage.  If we're not careful, we "wealthy" people will be the ones that are truly poor.

Would you consider sponsoring a child?  $30 a month is all it takes.

I can't vouch for any other organization, but GPPD is real...these children are real...and the money given goes to meet real needs.  It isn't wasted on expensive ads or inflated salaries.  It doesn't pad some executive's pocket.  It feeds, clothes, and provides for hundreds of children (plus so much more...check out their website).

Will you say yes?
