These simple quilts are made by local ladies and given to the orphans sponsored by Global Partners. These children don't have much materially, but these quilts give them something uniquely theirs that cushions the hard floors they sleep on. I still chuckle at the memory of seeing little Indian babies all bundled up, with hats on their little heads, just because the temps dipped down around 80. Yep, 80. So I guess in some instances the quilts actually provide extra warmth... :)
I'd not made one of these for a long time. My visit to India stirred the need to get back at it. I've made 4 in the past two weeks, and I plan to get the rest of my quilt stash sewn up before the next team visits the orphans. The sewing is simple, but the motivation is real:
Now that's a good reason to sew up a few yards of fabric, don't you think?
What have you made for a good cause? How do you fit it into your busy schedule?
