The Magic of Layering

Good to see you!  Yes, it's been a long time.  I thoroughly enjoyed Christmas.  We took a long break from school and had some dedicated time with the kids.  Sending the oldest back to college wasn't an easy thing to do.  God has led me to spend more time in prayer over my kids.  If their mom won't pray for them, who will?

On a totally different note, today I'm sharing something that's been swirling around in my head to try for a long time.  When I first saw this post, I was intrigued.  Could I do this without the die?  Sometimes my Cricut cuts...sometimes not...and more intricate things like words are hit or miss.  So I pushed the idea to the back burner.

Until today.  Finally!

The Wild Card cartridge has many words and phrases.  I have used this word before, so I was pretty sure it would cut eventually, if not easily.  I pulled out the cart, loaded my mat with some cheap Jo Ann's kraft paper, and voila!  The magic happened.  Don't you just love it when cheap stuff works well?

It makes my inner cheapskate smile.

It worked!  No tearing, no shredding.  That's almost unheard of (at least for me).

After cutting three pages full of various words and phrases, the layering began.

Tombow Mono glue was fantastic.  The layers came together and lined up much more easily than I thought they would.

For some I only put two layers together.  For others, I used six.

I liked them all, but the thicker ones were definitely my favorites.

a glimpse of the dimension

I never thought the thin paper I had would work so well.  I can't wait to make these into a big stash of cards.

What inexpensive item has exceeded your expectations lately?
